Applied Linguistics
Applied Linguistics is concerned with practical problems of everyday life related to language and communication. It deals with issues in language and verbal interaction that arise not out of academic interest but out of the needs of the language users, such as individual communication competence, misunderstandings in intercultural communication, multilingualism and multilingual communication, foreign language communication and learning, language change and language diversity, among an extensive list of issues in language and communication.

Literary and Cultural Studies
Literary and Cultural Studies are two related fields that focus on understanding how literature and culture shape and are shaped by social, political, historical and economic forces. Literary and Cultural Studies seek to understand the complex relationship between culture, society and the individual. They are interdisciplinary fields that draw on various methodologies and critical perspectives to explore the meanings and significance of cultural and literary texts.
