- Biography
Mathias Guerreiro-Aires is a lecturer of French in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. He currently serves as French Lower Division Coordinator, French for International Business Coordinator, and French Internship Director. Since 2022, Prof. Guerreiro-Aires has developed and directed more than 20 internship opportunities for students of French in various companies and organizations in the Atlanta metro area. Additionally, he has given the opportunity to many of his students to volunteer during important events and meet diplomats as well as executives from various industries and Fortune 500 companies. Prof Guerreiro-Aires also serves as a University Senator on the Student Life Committee and the Cultural Diversity Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Campus Equity Sub-Committee.
Prof. Guerreiro-Aires specializes in French for international business, second language acquisition, and world language pedagogy. His current research interests include language for specific purposes, task-based instruction, career readiness and employability, equity and social justice in world language education, and human rights in the French-speaking world. He has taught a wide range of French courses, including Francophone Perspectives on Human Rights, Power, and Resistance, French for International Business I and II, Advanced French Conversation and Composition, Intermediate French I and II, and Elementary French I and II.
