On October 16th, the Japanese section of the World Languages and Culture Department, with the support of CIRCLE, hosted the Tomodachi Meets event, bringing together over 90 participants. This event connected Japanese language learners with Japanese international and exchange students, as well as heritage speakers. Attendees enjoyed a variety of fun, competitive, and interactive activities, giving students a chance to practice their Japanese, apply their language skills, and connect with peers from various Japanese courses.
The Japanese program coordinator, DeLizzia Camacho, is dedicated to enhancing the program not only through classroom instruction, but also by organizing engaging events like this throughout the academic year. The initiative of the WLC Japanese program is to provide students ample opportunities to practically apply their skills in diverse settings and build connections with the Japanese community beyond the classroom.
