A group of ten current and former Georgia State University students, along with Dr. Marta Galindo, Academic Professional and Director of CIRCLE, in the Department of World Languages & Cultures, traveled to the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi on October 25th and 26th, 2024, to make presentations about their research to the 2024 Fall Conference of the Mississippi Foreign Language Association (MFLA). Sara Parra Cadavid presented her topic about Armed Conflict in Colombia with an analysis of the history and antecedents of the conflict in Colombia and the peace process. Ernest Kwaku Addo presented his research on the importance of technology in the teaching and learning of French as a foreign language in Ghana. Mathias Guerreiro-Aires presented a report on a French language internship program involving students who identify as Black, Latinx, or Afro-Latinx, including recommendations for the design of equitable internships. Lolonyo Djamessi, Francis Adjei-Nyagbe, and Letrice Johnson presented their study entitled Decoding Diversity: Understanding Linguistic Landscape for Inclusive Education, which discussed the use of the Linguistic Landscape as a tool for teachers to understand the community that they are serving and to incorporate an education of inclusion taking into consideration the values and culture of the people. Dr. Galindo, Yatharth Gohil, Jinash Rouniyar, Sudip Agrahari, and Akshit Calonia demonstrated their software project, Educational Voice Assistant (E.V.A.) which is under development as a software program to provide language tutoring to students. The presentations were well received and the participants enjoyed networking with members of the MFLA and other presenters after completing their presentations.
