As part of the Africa-Atlanta Program, GSU is organizing a conference entitled “Celebrating Africans in Atlanta.” For this conference, Dr. Gladys M. Francis is directing a set of events with the breathtaking Giwayen Mata ensemble. On September 12, 2014 the public will have a unique opportunity to experience hands-on, the richness of African rhythms and movements through a dynamic and exciting workshop with Giwayen Mata. Then, the audience will witness decades of Giwayen Mata’s transformative creativity during a powerful concert performance that will be followed by a discussion led by Dr. Francis with members of Giwayen Mata and the audience.News4
